Building Your List Of Leads
October 1st, 2009 by Becky Johnson
We all have heard in network marketing the money is in your list, but how do you build a list?
Well there are several way to build a list of prospects, or leads that you can for the rest of time send emails to that guide your prospects to websites or blogs to entice them to purchase what you have to offer.
First you should decide who you want to target, or who is your niche market. You don't want to offer roller blades to people in their 70's ( well maybe a few) but you want to get your offer to the people who will most likely to be interested in what you have to sell.
First you will need an auto responder, I use Get Response. It's a contact company that will handle all your email campaigns on auto pilot, so you don't have to.
One way to build your list is by subscriber leads. People who "opt" into a lead capture page and you then gather their name and email information. The best way to get is to give. So offer a free ebook or free training or information in exchange for their information. Now you have their permission to send them email and send them more information. Now don't just always try and sell the, you need to also add value and send them information they can use.
You should have a well thought out campaign for you auto responder and create at least 15-20 emails to send out to put your website infront of your customers. It usually takes a prospect visiting your site at least 7 times before they will make a purchase. They need to get to know and trust you first.
How To Avoid Mistakes While Creating Your List.
So lets take a minute to discover what not to do when creating your list.
Many newbies fall into scams when trying to build a list fast. Never buy and send Bulk email. You will see ads that sell you thousands of email addresses for less than $50 and while that may sound great to have an "instant " list you won't have a targeted list of people looking for what you have to offer.
Remember there are riches in niches and you need to find people that fit your niche, and there are plenty of people out there.
Now there are legitimate companies out there that sell email lists, but they are pricey and when you are just starting out you don't want to be buying leads that you can't afford. Lets rely on the free ways to create leads.
Social networking is a great way to build your list. With Twitter,Face book, My space and Linkedin, just to name a few.
Now on social marketing you don't want to just be selling, you also want to add value, so be sure and create content that adds value to your prospects. This will help you to create a high quality list and having a high quality list of 5000 is much better than having one million general prospects that may or may not have an interest in your product.
Now building a list does take time. Its a lot like tending a garden, you have to sow the seeds water and feed, and don't forget to weed, before you can enjoy the harvest.
Find out what your customers wants and needs are, then fulfill those needs and be honest. By doing this you will grow long term success as an entrepreneur on the internet.
